John

John is an everyday man working hard to manage his health.

John is a 58 year old living with Diabetes and related complications.

While at the Northeast Baptist Hospital Wound Healing Center for ulcer treatment, his doctor prescribed custom compression garments to help with circulation, edema, swelling and overall mobility.

Unfortunately, John’s insurance company would not cover the expense of his compression garments and purchasing outright was cost prohibitive.

One set of compression garments can be close to $1,000 and must be replaced, on average, every 6 months.

For an individual living on a budget, this expense is nearly impossible.

Knowing about Project MEND, John’s doctor referred him to our organization. With support from Bexar County, we successfully put John through our Assistive Technology Financial Aid Program and got him a set of brand new compression garments.

John is “very thankful for Project MEND” and the assistance we provided.
